Storer Lecture - Dr. Katie Pollard, UCSF

Dr. Katie Pollard is a Professor in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at UCSF. She is the Director and Senior Investigator at the Gladstone Institute of Data Science and Biotechnology and an investigator of the Chan Zuckerberg Biohub. The Pollard lab develops statistical and computational methods to analyze massive biomedical datasets. Dr. Pollard specializes in evolutionary and comparative approaches, including machine-learning integration of diverse types of data and longitudinal models of dynamics in disease and development. Current areas of emphasis are virology & microbial pathogenesis and developmental & stem cell biology.

Microbiome Seminar: Tiny Earth Network and Diversity of Microorganisms

Dr. Gonzalez-Orta is an Associate Professor of Biological Sciences and the Director of the Science Educational Equity Program at Sacramento State.  She is dedicated to causes and programs that advocate for diversity, equity and inclusion, including outreach to diverse youth in the greater Sacramento area through the 4-H On the Wild Side Program.   Dr. Gonzalez-Orta will be giving a seminar on the Tiny Earth Network and her Diversity of Microorganisms class.
